Pastor - Len West

Len has been preaching and teaching in the church since 1981. He began his career in ministry serving a parish in Connecticut with the United Methodist Church. Since then he has pastored churches in upstate New York and Brooklyn. Layered between those ecclesiastical endeavors have been forays into the world of social work and theater.

For several years Len worked with the chronically mentally ill in clubhouse settings in Danbury CT and Staten Island NY. Following closely after, he pursued a career in theater and film in New York City.

With a longing to once again fill a pulpit and tell the greatest story ever told, he found his way back into ordained ministry at the encouragement of his pastor via the UCC. He comes to Faith UCC from Stanfordville UCC in New York where he served for seven years.

He and his wife Julie, together with their Old English Sheepdog, Dougal, and Wolfhound mix, Jenny live in Parrish FL.

 

                                                        

 Director of Music - Marilyn Spencer

Marilyn has been playing piano since she was five and organ since she was nine.  Marilyn loves playing organ, piano and directing choirs.  Her husband, Tom and she own and operate Florida Enrichment Academy in Bradenton and they teach piano, organ, clavinova, harp, guitar, drums and voice music lessons to all ages - children and adults.

The Spencers moved to Sarasota - from the mountains above Denver- in April of this year after visiting here last February. They traded lots of snow for lots of sunshine.  Marilyn and Tom have four grown children and eight grandchildren and have adopted two dogs to keep them busy and out walking.  Two of the grandchildren live in Sarasota and they enjoy seeing them, taking them to the library, teaching them how to play the piano. They are enjoying their pool and the Florida sunshine and are hoping to take sailing lessons in the future.

  

 

 

  Church Secretary - Judy Wetter

Judy has been the church secretary at Faith for over ten years.  Judy and her husband Denny moved to Florida, from Indiana, in 1998.  They have two children, a son Todd, who is a Battalion Chief at a fire department in Indiana, and a daughter, Jamie, who is a newspaper editor in Wisconsin and also  5 grandchildren.  Rubber stamping, altered books and reading are her hobbies.  Judy also has a great little dog named Matty.
